We started the money transfer business in 2001. We saw that there’s a need in the communities to send money back home.
Over the years, we expand our business to 28 states. Last year we transfer about $675 million dollars.
After the governor issued the shelter-at-home order, our business went from 100% to zero overnight.
Wells Fargo has worked with Jeff so customers can now go to Hong Lan’s website, send money and no longer need to go into the brick-and-mortar locations.
The online system has opened up a whole new revenue stream for Jeff.
Without the bank, we simply won’t be able to operate our business.
I left Vietnam in 1978, with my sister. After a month, we sent the first $100 to our parents back home. We were so happy that we were able to send money to Vietnam.
Now this is our mission. It is more than just money. It’s creating opportunity for the people back home.
